Active Ryedale

During October & November 2013, England and Wales will be hosting the Rugby League World Cup. The Rugby Football League (RFL), the sports governing body, have encouraged areas up and down the country to submit expressions of interest to either host a game, training camp or base camp. They must demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment to making this the best event in the sport's history and a key part of the golden decade of UK Sport with the 2012 Olympic Games, 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup.

Ryedale District Council and Active Ryedale (local community sports network) have started work on the development of a new Sport & Active Living Strategy for the area. The first stage in this process was to seek resident's views on Open Space, Sport & Recreational facilities and activities in the district. Officers have been analysing the results of the initial public facing survey. The next stage of consultation is to gather views from businesses regarding work based physical activity and local sports clubs and physical activity providers.

York Playspace in conjunction with Ryedale District Council have again produced a fun packed programme of events and activities. Just turn up and have fun.

Like to bike why not get involved with your local biking group?

Malton And District Cycling

The fifty plus and easy rider group are organising a number of rides in association with various different groups within the district. The rides will commence from Slingsby Maypole, Slingsby, North Yorkshire unless an alternative is given. People are welcome to join the group where it is convenient for you and liaise with the leader to arrange times. The pace that riders will be setting will be around 13/14 mph.
